I’m often asked why I write. That’s easy to answer! I write because it allows me to express myself in a way I’m unable to verbally. I write because I have thoughts and ideas that clamour to be shared. I write to give my life perspective and to make sense of my world. But, most of all, I write because I have to, because it feeds my soul and stills the turmoil in my mind. I write to be free.
My hope is that like-minded people will read and enjoy my offerings and hopefully comment and share their own experiences.
Why Hill Top Heaven?
Looking back over one’s life always brings a mix of emotions … pride, regret, pleasure and pain amongst them, but as I look forward the view from the top of my hill looks pretty spectacular.
“Hill?” you may ask, “What hill?” Well, that’s easy. It’s the hill that you spent your twenties, thirties and forties hiking up. It’s the hill (although it often seemed more like a mountain) that we struggled up, perhaps stumbling but hopefully not falling into the pits of high mortgage rates and car repayments, school fees and career demands. The climb takes hard work and self-sacrifice, however willingly undertaken. And it’s the hill that finally, gratefully … you summit.
Hilltop Heaven is what I’ve called that summit and it’s where I find myself now. It’s a place for fun, friends, reflection and adventure, a place to relish being before the inevitable (but still hopefully distant) journey “over the hill” and into the twilight. So come and join me on this adventure as I share my adventures, experiences and opinions.
