Cathy new pic  Welcome to Hill Top Heaven! My name is Cathy Holdsworth and I’m a blogger, traveller and a retired English teacher. My passions are literature, travel, decorating and writing.

I’m often asked why I write. That’s easy to answer! I write because it allows me to express myself in a way I’m unable to verbally. I write because I have thoughts and ideas that clamour to be shared. I write to give my life perspective and to make sense of my world. But, most of all, I write because I have to, because it feeds my soul and stills the turmoil in my mind. I write to be free.

My hope is that like-minded people will read and enjoy my offerings and hopefully comment and share their own experiences.

Why Hill Top Heaven?

Looking back over one’s life always brings a mix of emotions … pride, regret, pleasure and pain amongst them, but as I look forward the view from the top of my hill looks pretty spectacular.
“Hill?” you may ask, “What hill?” Well, that’s easy. It’s the hill that you spent your twenties, thirties and forties hiking up. It’s the hill (although it often seemed more like a mountain) that we struggled up, perhaps stumbling but hopefully not falling into the pits of high mortgage rates and car repayments, school fees and career demands. The climb takes hard work and self-sacrifice, however willingly undertaken. And it’s the hill that finally, gratefully … you summit.
Hilltop Heaven is what I’ve called that summit and it’s where I find myself now. It’s a place for fun, friends, reflection and adventure, a place to relish being before the inevitable (but still hopefully distant) journey “over the hill” and into the twilight. So come and join me on this adventure as I share my adventures, experiences and opinions.

Hi Cathy, it’s good to meet you, and read some of your work. I like Hill Top Heaven as a name, partly because it has the same thinking as the name of my blog – Autumn Leaves. From which you may gather that I’m somewhat older than you, but still passionate about living life. I look forward to reading more of your stories!

    1. Hi Penny, thanks so much for getting in touch. It’s always wonderful to make contact with someone on a similar journey. Age is just a number (clichéd, but true) and I look forward to sharing a host of thoughts, writings and constructive criticisms with you. 🙂

    2. Please help, Penny. I’ve been searching WordPress for Autumn Leaves to no avail. Where can I find it?

      1. pennygadd51 says:

The other way you could find it is to search (not Tag) for “Autumn Leaves” and use chronological sort rather than relevance. Because I post 3 times a week I’m always fairly close to the top.

  10. Please help, Penny. I’ve been searching WordPress for Autumn Leaves to no avail. Where can I find it?
